Your privacy matters to us

We collect the following information when you use Knox Knows:

• Account info — your name and email address when you sign up via Google, Microsoft, or email
• Usage data — daily question counts to enforce plan limits (stored for 30 days, then deleted)
• Questions & chat history — the questions and images you submit to Knox, and Knox's answers. Stored for 30 days so you can access your history across devices, then automatically deleted
• Billing info — handled entirely by Stripe. We only store your Stripe customer ID, not card details
• Device info — browser type and basic technical info for debugging
• Analytics — anonymized page views and interaction data via Google Analytics, used only to improve the product

We use your information only to provide and improve Knox Knows:

• To log you in and keep your account secure
• To enforce your daily question limits based on your plan
• To process your subscription payments via Stripe
• To send you important account-related emails (receipts, password resets)
• To improve Knox's answers and fix bugs

We do not use your questions to train AI models, sell your data, or send you marketing emails without your consent.

Knox Knows uses the following third-party services to operate. Each processes some of your data under their own privacy policies:

• Firebase (Google) — authentication and database storage. Privacy policy ↗
• OpenAI — powers Knox's AI responses. Questions are sent to OpenAI's API. Privacy policy ↗
• Stripe — handles all payment processing. We never see or store your card details. Privacy policy ↗
• Vercel — hosts the Knox Knows platform. Privacy policy ↗
• Google Analytics — anonymized usage analytics. Privacy policy ↗
• SendGrid — sends transactional emails (welcome, billing). Privacy policy ↗

Knox Knows uses cookies and browser local storage for the following purposes:

• Authentication — Firebase uses cookies to keep you signed in
• Usage tracking — we store your daily question count locally so the progress bar updates instantly
• Theme preference — we remember whether you prefer dark or light mode
• Chat history — saved both locally in your browser and to your account (so it follows you between devices). Server-stored history is kept for 30 days and then automatically deleted
• Analytics — we use Google Analytics to understand which features get used and where users get stuck. It sets a first-party cookie. We do not use this data for advertising

We do not use advertising cookies. You can disable analytics by using your browser's "Do Not Track" setting or a privacy extension.

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Usage records (daily question counts) are stored for 30 days and then automatically deleted.

If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data from our systems within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or financial compliance (Stripe retains billing records as required by law).

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
• Deletion — request deletion of your account and associated data
• Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate data
• Portability — request your data in a machine-readable format

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data. All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Authentication is handled by Firebase, which uses industry-standard security practices. Payment data is handled entirely by Stripe and never touches our servers.

No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of Knox Knows after changes are posted means you accept the revised policy.

For significant changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you by email or by displaying a notice on the site.
